Costa Rica!
Costa Rica captured my heart from the very first morning I stepped into its natural environment. I have been fortunate to explore six different reserves, some of them twice, and each visit has shown me something new: the patience to find and observe the Resplendent Quetzal, the call of a Bare-throated Tiger-Heron echoing through the canopy, or a quiet moment with a rarely seen bird along a river trail. Costa Rica is home to more than 900 bird species, and its forests, rivers, and mountains make it one of the most rewarding places on earth for a bird photographer. What makes it truly special, though, is its people. Their warmth, generosity, and deep pride in protecting their natural treasures made me feel welcome everywhere I went. Their national motto says it best: pura vida, "pure life." I hope these photographs bring you a little of the beauty and joy I found there.
